How To Play Never Have I Ever Game
In case you’ve never played the Never Have I Ever Game (or need a game refresher), here’s how to play…
Game Summary
Never Have I Ever is a group party game where participants taking turns making statements about experiences they have never had. The game is often played with alcoholic beverages and players take a sip when the statement applies to them (or, they’ve done the thing the speaker says).
Game Supplies
To play Never Have I Ever, you’ll need:
- A fun group of people willing to share secrets
- Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks
IMPORTANT GAME PLAY TIP: Be sure to provide non-alcoholic drinks for those who don’t want to drink or don’t drink.
Game Instructions
1. Players take turns being the “speaker.”
The speaker begins a statement with “Never have I ever…” and then follows it with a funny statement. For this game, we’re playing it as a Valentine’s Day game, so each statement should be relationship, romance, or Valentine’s Day themed.
Game Tip: You can also provide a list of questions and the speaker draws a question from the jar, reads it, and also reacts (takes a sip if they’ve done it, no sip if they haven’t done it).
2. Other players are the “responders.”
Those who have done what the statement mentions take a sip of their drink.
For example, if the SPEAKER said, “Never have I ever joined a dating app…” then all the players who HAVE joined a dating app take a sip of their drink.
Game Tip: Even though it’s really fun and funny, make an optional sharing rule. After taking a sip, participants can optionally share a brief story or context about the statement, adding humor and depth to the game.
3. Continue the play.
The game rotation continues, with each participant taking turns making statements.
The goal is to have fun, share experiences, and discover commonalities within the group.
This is a really fun ice breaker game if you have a group that doesn’t know each other very well. It’s a great get to know each other game!
