How To Make Halloween Chocolate Candy Bark

I made our Halloween candy recipe with yellow swirls and sprinkles because I thought it would really show up for a dark fall candy bark (and it did!), but you can use any colors that you want!

Just remember that with a dark chocolate you’ll need to use the swirl chocolate that will stand out against the dark.

Ingredients for Halloween Bark:

  • Black candy melts
  • Yellow candy melts
  • Yellow jimmies sprinkles
  • Black sprinkles (I used these)
  • Yellow star sprinkle candies*

You will also need a half sheet pan like this. (Or, use a full sheet pan if you double the recipe.)

*Or any sprinkles you want for your Halloween theme.

Halloween Candy Recipe Tips

You can make this easy bark recipe in any colors of chocolate melts like these, but we chose black and yellow for Halloween party colors.

You can adjust the melt colors to your own Halloween decor.

RECIPE NOTE: The black melts may look brown when melted depending on the brand and type of melts you use (ours did), but it dried a lot darker into the black bark you see in the finished pictures.

Equipment

  • 1 Half sheet pan with sides

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds black candy melts
  • 1/2 pound yellow candy melts
  • yellow sprinkles (jimmies)
  • black star sprinkles (see post for what I used)
  • yellow star sprinkles

Instructions

  • Line a rimmed half baking sheet (18×13) with wax paper. Be sure to leave some hanging over the ends to help remove the candy bark. Set aside.
  • Following package directions, melt black candy melts. Spread across the bottom of the lined baking sheet.
  • Immediately melt the yellow candy melts according to package directions. (If you can, melt the black candy melts and yellow, separately, but at the same time.). You will need to work quickly before the black base chocolate sets.
  • Place 2 small teaspoons of melted yellow candy on top of the melted black chocolate, at opposite ends from each other.
  • Use a a fork to swirl the yellow on top of the black. You want a swirled effect and not mix in the yellow to the black completely. If needed, add more melted yellow until you get the desired effect.
  • Sprinkle the melted chocolate with yellow sprinkles, black sprinkles, and yellow star sprinkles on top.
  • Set aside until cooled completely and hard, about 2 hours at room temperature or around 20 minutes in the refrigerator.*
  • To remove, use the ends of the wax paper to remove the set bark. Place on a cutting board and break bark pieces apart.
The number of pieces you get will depend on how big or small you break the pieces of bark. Enjoy!
  • Store leftover candy in an airtight container on the counter for up to a month.

Notes

*I like to let bark candy harden at room temperature because sometimes if you put it in the refrigerator to harden it collects condensation, which can affect the candy sprinkles.
