13 Easy DIY Holiday Ideas for Christmas Party Crafts

Christmas crafts for Fun DIY Christmas Craft Party Ideas

These homemade holiday crafts and handmade Christmas crafts are great for a craft-themed holiday party in December.

dried apples for old-fashioned Christmas crafts for Christmas craft party ideas

DIY Dried Apple Ornaments

Drying apples is another old-fashioned Christmas idea that I think many people have forgotten about.

If you cut the apples the right way, you can have a beautiful star shape in the middle that looks awesome when you hang it on the tree!

handmade beeswax Christmas ornaments for old-fashioned Christmas crafts for Christmas craft party ideas

DIY Bees Wax Ornaments

These are my favorite handmade holiday ornaments we’ve ever made, but it’s probably better for an teen craft party or adult craft party (like a girls night out holiday party).

You can use whatever shape molds or cookie cutters that you want, but we used a variety of old-fashioned beeswax molds for a more vintage Christmas tree look.

Hands-down one of the best Christmas activities we’ve ever done and will now become an annual tradition and helps get us into the holiday spirit.

CRAFT TIP: If you use the yellow beeswax like this (you can check at the craft store too), they come out looking like more aged ornaments. Also, you can use a toothpick to carve the date into the bottom of the ornament if you’re going to do these each holiday season.

You could DEFINITELY add these as Christmas ornaments crafts to make and sell at local holiday craft shows and they also make unique homemade gifts for others.

dried oranges and citrus for old-fashioned Christmas crafts for Christmas craft party ideas

DIY Dried Citrus Ornaments

Dried oranges, lemons, and grapefruits make gorgeous Christmas tree ornaments and definitely give your tree and holiday garland Christmas decor an old-timey vintage Christmas feel.

TIME SAVER PRO PARTY TIP: Citrus can take a couple of hours to dry out. For a party, dry the citrus slices well before the craft party and provide different ribbons, twine, and Christmas beads for crafters to make their own citrus Christmas ornament during the party.

If you want to send your craft party goers home with party favors, you can make DIY citrus ornament favor bags where you include a slice or two of the dried fruit, cut ribbons and twine, and beads so that party guests can continue to craft together at home.

Orange Pomander Ornament

Speaking of orange Christmas ornaments…

Homemade orange pomanders with some twine or beautiful raffia like this or ribbon bows make beautiful pomander ornaments to make for a craft party.

They’re easy holiday crafts for all ages, but the real bonus is the fragrant holiday smell!

CRAFT TIP: Use smaller oranges so they can hang on Christmas tree limbs that are more sturdy.

These also make some of the ‎best DIY mantel decor for the holidays or if you’re making wreaths for your holiday party crafts.

Add in some cinnamon sticks to get those holiday smells!

pet snowman snow globes Christmas crafts for Christmas craft party ideas

Pet Snowman Craft

These cute pet snowman crafts for kids are fun whether you’re looking for Christmas snowmen crafts, mason jar snowman craft ideas for a crowd, or even a snowman art craft for toddlers for a craft party.

It’s a really fun snow globe craft where all the party goers can create their own unique snow person personality.

The craft instructions come with free printable snowmen tags, too.

3D star paper ornament on Christmas tree for Christmas crafts

Paper Star Ornament

These easy paper ornaments are fun to make with any recycled paper, leftover scrapbook paper, or card stock you have around the house — including leftover gift bags, which is what we used to make our paper stars.

You can even ask guests to bring any paper or old cards that they want to get rid of to recycle.

These are also great if you’re wondering how do you make ornaments out of old Christmas cards or other upcycled materials.

pine cone ornaments old-fashioned Christmas crafts for Christmas craft party ideas

DIY Pinecone Ornaments

These ornaments from real pinecones are also easy Christmas ornaments to make and they’re ready in just a few minutes.

I think it’s fun to pair it with a cold weather hike / winter hike to gather pinecones and then make the ornament crafts when you get back from the hike, which you can incorporate into your party!

We made them with simple jute twine for our old-fashioned Christmas theme, but you can add in fun ribbon, colorful twine and even beads for colorful Christmas ornaments.

magic reindeer food for Christmas crafts and Christmas craft party ideas

MAGIC REINDEER FOOD RECIPE

We make this magic reindeer food recipe (also called magic reindeer dust) every year and sprinkle it for Santa’s reindeer on Christmas Eve.

It’s a really cute Christmas DIY party favor, especially if you’re looking for preschool Christmas projects and is one of those kids holiday activities that they’ll look forward to doing to bring a little extra magic to the holiday season.

This easy reindeer food recipe is so much fun for all ages and a fun tradition for families to start this holiday season.

The printable craft instructions include a free Christmas printable poem bag topper!

Christmas keepsake ornament step by step craft instructions for craft party ideas

Personalized Keepsake Ornament

To this day, these DIY personalized Christmas ornaments remain one of my all-time favorite ornaments we’ve ever made.

And, it’s simple enough to do as a group holiday project for any age.

You just need to have each person bring small items and materials that have personal meaning to them for their own personal touch.

It’s fun to see how each person puts their personalized touch on their own ornament.

I filled an ornament with sand and shells from a special summer trip, but you can use anything in your clear glass ornaments or clear plastic ornaments!

Making your own ornaments is also a fun craft for a Christmas party or a way to get the whole family involved.

Many people wonder how to decorate plastic Christmas balls, but they never think about decorating the inside instead!

Night Before Christmas Not a Creature Stirring Paper Crafts Ornaments for Christmas Party

Night Before Christmas Ornament

The paper Christmas ornaments are a play on the “Not A Creature Was Stirring” part of The Night Before Christmas poem.

Read the Night Before Christmas and then make these ornaments as part of your craft party or for a family Christmas Eve activity idea.

This is a simple DIY Christmas ornament that’s fun for preschool holiday crafts or family crafts to do together.

If you’re looking for an easy holiday craft for preschoolers or a DIY ornament everyone can do, this is it! (Or, if you need a quick extra craft idea for your party table.)

This is also an easy candy cane ornament and fun ideas to use leftover candy canes, too!

Perfect craft for Christmas for all ages. (Great holiday crafts for toddlers, too!)

Popcorn and Cranberry Garland for DIY Christmas Decorations

If you’re looking for old-fashioned Christmas decor or want a vintage farmhouse look, string up some popcorn garland for your Christmas tree or fireplace mantel.

You can also add anything else you want to your homemade garland, like dried fruit or wood beads.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT TIP: Click over so you don’t miss the trick to to keep popcorn from breaking off of garland!

Ice Candles

Ice candles (also called lanterns or luminaries) are not only a fun winter craft for kids activities, but they’re also a beautiful addition to winter solstice celebration or fun lights to guide Santa’s reindeer to your house!

I loved making this craft so much, but it’s involved and does include freezing time. For these reasons, I think it would be fun for a small lady’s holiday afternoon craft party.

PRO PARTY TIP: Because this craft needs to be frozen, you’ll need to have lots of freezer space or it will need to be freezing temperatures outside.

You will also need to consider a way for people to get their ice lanterns home or, better yet, host a winter bonfire where you all light your ice lanterns as part of the festivities.

Even if you don’t make these for a craft party, put them on your list to make as a family. They really are that cool!

Build A Snowman Treat Bags

These are make-ahead craft bags before your party. Hand them out for a fun for a kids’ craft table for the holidays or for an easy DIY craft idea.

These cute build a snowman kits are perfect for Christmas party favors to take and make, too.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Have fun with these Christmas craft party ideas!
