Fun Smores Bonfire Party and Fall Fire Pit Party Ideas
Fall is my favorite season! The cool crisp days and even cooler evenings are perfect for family and friend gatherings, especially with camp fires and backyard smores parties and campfire snacks!

What Do You Need For A Bonfire Smores Station?
- Campfire
- Seating
- Tables
- S’mores ingredients*
- Plates, paper towels and wet wipes (do not leave out the wet wipes, trust me on this one!)
*See the full list of party tips below!
PRO PARTY TIP: If you have a large group for your s’more party (or lots of kids attending the party), you may want to use cute s’mores bags like these to handout with the basic ingredients, but then provide a s’mores topping station for other fun toppings.

How To Throw A Fall S’mores Party with a DIY Smores Bar
Camp Fire Setup
- Bonfire pit area or a portable fire pit in a clear outdoor area
- Firewood
- Matches/lighter
- Long skewers or roasting sticks – we love these telescoping skewers for marshmallow roasting and cooking hot dogs over a fire pit. Be sure that you use sticks or skewers long enough to keep a safe distance from the fire!
- Table for s’mores ingredients
- Seating around the fire (camp chairs, benches, tree stumps, picnic blankets) – ask guests to bring their own camp chairs
It goes without saying that with any party with a campfire, safety should be top priority, especially if children are involved. Be sure to keep a bucket of water or a small fire spray can like this nearby to ensure safety first!
PRO PARTY TIP: A bucket with sand is perfect to stick hot skewers or sticks into to cool them down! Then, you don’t have skewers that can burn people just sitting around.
Classic S’mores Ingredients
- Graham crackers (regular)
- Marshmallows (we use standard large marshmallows)
- Milk chocolate bars
PRO PARTY TIP: I LOVE this s’more station kit that holds everything in one place!

Creative Smores Toppings Add-Ons for a DIY S’mores Bar (Optional, But Fun!)
- Peanut butter cups
- Dark chocolate bars
- White chocolate bars
- Caramel squares or Rolos
- Nutella or cookie butter
- Sliced strawberries
- Sliced bananas
- Green apple slices
- Marshmallow fluff
- Cookies (Oreos, chocolate chip) as cracker substitutes
- Cinnamon graham crackers
- Chocolate graham crackers
- Ritz crackers
You can also add other camp fire foods like hot dogs and hot dog buns, corn on the cob (to roast over the fire), !
Don’t forget to include areas for people to safely place hot skewers!
S’mores Party Serving Setup
- Platters, bowls, or baskets to organize ingredients
- Skewers or sharp sticks / limbs
- Paper towels (skip napkins because they usually aren’t as sturdy)
- Wet Wipes – DEFINITELY add wipes for sticky fingers!
- Plates
- A small table or trays for the ingredients
For serving, set up DIY s’mores stations (like a buffet). If you have a large gathering, set up a couple of different self-serve stations for people to grab ingredients for smores and also an area to make and assemble s’mores.
I hope you have fun with these fall s’mores party ideas for your autumn activities!
